Newport
|
Downtown Newport is a beautiful place to walk around and see the sights. While there are plenty of attractions in Newport to part your wallet from its contents, a visit to see the city itself will only you cost you a bridge toll and parking. | ![]() |
Newport Mansions
The Breakers, Rosecliff, The Elms, Marble House, Chateau-sur-Mer, Kingscote, Isaac Bell House, Hunter House, Chepstow, and The Green Animals
Tickets range from $11-$31 for adults and $4-$10 for children depending how many and which of the mansions you want to visit. |
A collection of restored gilded-age “summer cottages” of the rich and famous with closets larger than the apratment Paul and I will be renting. Definitely worth the day trip down to Newport if you have time. Open for tours. My favorite part is the children’s playhouse at the Breakers, which includes a fully functional kitchen.

Newport Storm Brewery
Units 3 and 4, Middletown Tradesman Center 307 Oliphant Lane, Middletown RI 02842 |
RI owned and operated microbrewery and a McCabe household favorite. Tours every Friday at 6PM, a great bonding moment for my Dad and Paul. Personally, I recommend leaving early because it can be a bit tricky to find, and the tours groups is limited. Directions are available on their website. 21+ only. The tours are free, last about an hour, and include tastings (i.e. free beer). Maelstrom IPA receives two thumbs up from My Dad and Paul. While you’re there you can also purchase a growler to take home! | ![]() |
